Take any job to pay your bills until you find your dream job. Pride doesn’t pay bills.
People take more time selecting the cloths they wear than picking up their career paths. When asked what they want to be in life they give you answers like;
Oh I want to be an engineer
Oh I want to own a multi-million dollar company
Oh I want to be the president of my country.
No doubt, These are all good aspirations however, they are very vague.
You see my dear mgbeke, most times than never, the people giving these answers do not know what path to take towards their success. So they end up searching for dream jobs instead of finding one that can fine tune their intended career path.
When taking a Job, You need to ask your self these questions?
What do I want to be in 10years?
How will this job help me fulfil my purpose?
What goal am I trying to achieve with this Job now?
Let’s take an example
Lets say you are in college and you need to work to pay your tuition fees, Luckily you find two jobs the first pays you $200 per month but you need to work for 3hrs per day and the second pays you 450$ per month but you need to work 7hrs per day.
Which of the Job offer would you take?
If you honestly choose the second Job that pays $450, then you have just made a very poor decision.
And here is why;
The reason for the job is to pay your tuition fees no doubt, but your dream is to graduate from school with a good grade so you can reposition your self strategically in your career path.
when you take a job that earns you $420 for 6 months, it would pay your tution, but it may take all your time.
This is how you should see jobs;
I personally see jobs as an experience system. The more Jobs you do, the more experience you get however, the key lies in picking up the right experiences that would be of great value to your career rather than to your pocket.
To achieve this;
You need to painstakingly layout the path to your future and create timelines that would help you get to where you want. Once you put that into perspective it creates a gravitational pull towards what you will need to survive.
My dear Mgbeke, I am no saying you should go out there and take any Job you find, what I am saying to you today is to seek Jobs, no matter the salary that would help you move faster towards your goals in life.
