VIDEO: Oh, Nigeria, Our Motherland, How Far? What Has Befallen You Like This?!
Shortly after the final whistle to signal the end of the World Cup Playoffs 2nd leg match between Nigeria and Ghana tonight, an enraged mob overran the pitch at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria, and mindlessly vandalized the main bowl.
I thought the word “Surulere” means that “patience is rewarding,” right? Well, this mob right here had no iota of such patience.
Yes, Nigeria failed to qualify right in our yard, but nothing justifies this irrational behavior! There are way bigger problems for us to deal with as a nation right now, and this is not the way to go at all!
Again, yes, we know that football has been one of the only primary sources of joy for millions of Nigerians, especially since the start of this accursed APC and Buhari-led regime.
But, the truth is that, right now, we are not quite sure if Buhari has not even used our original Super Eagles to do Aboki suya or barbecue because this bunch has looked more like peppered Super Chickens than eagles o! And, it is quite alarming also for all our sporting teams because ever since he became the President of this country, na so so bad luck everywhere!
There was the Abuja-Kaduna train bomb blast that killed over 40 passengers. Southern Kaduna has been bleeding. Kaduna Airport was also attacked, and innocent lives were lost.
We can see now that their spirit stopped the fun. Nigerians should be mourning right now, not rejoicing. May their departed souls rest in peace.
An average Nigerian is already in a state of depression because of the economic hardship and high level of insecurity, so this act tonight may just be a way of showing their anger.
Unfortunately, though, all they’ve done is vandalize “public property” and, given these sets of thieving looters, called leaders another opportunity to loot public funds in the name of fixing these damages done tonight.
“Our leaders have failed us completely. Go and get your PVC now!” We need to change the narrative. We can’t continue like this. So help us, God, in this nation…Amen!
