Drinking alcohol is not a sin. But drunkenness is a sin. Deuteronomy 14:26, 1 Timothy 5:23.
Eating is not a sin. Gluttony (overeating) is a sin-Ezekiel 16:49.
Sleeping is not a sin. Oversleeping leading to laziness is a sin-Proverbs 19:15.
Sexual intercourse is not a sin. But intercourse outside marriage is a sin-1 Corinthians 6:18.
Anger is not a sin. But hatred, arising from anger is a sin-1 John 3:15.
Even a virtue done to the extreme is sinful-Philippians 4:5.
Christ Himself drank wine. The wine He drank was alcoholic-Luke 7:34. Christ turned water into alcoholic wine. We know that from the testimony of the Governor of the feast-John 2:10. All wine is alcoholic. There is nothing like non alcoholic wine. There is wine from which the alcoholic content has been chemically removed by a process invented by Louis Pasteur in the 19th Century.
Before then, such techniques were not known. In any case, the word used in Scripture is actually ‘strong drink’.
Scripture is very specific. Wine refers to fermented grape juice with alcohol in it.
Now, please do not take my word for it. Go and research what I have just taught here.
In fact, Deuteronomy 14:26 encourages you to use your tithes to buy “wine, or strong drink”.
You guys are putting a burden on yourselves that Scripture did not put. Psalm 104:15 says God created wine to gladden the heart of man.
Christ drank wine, and taught us that wine would be drank in God’s Kingdom-Matthew 26:29. These words of Christ are corroborated (not that we should ever need to corroborate Christ’s Words) by Judges 9:13.
There is a very big difference between religion and faithfulness. The teaching that alcohol is sinful is a religious teaching. It is not a faithful teaching. God has not called us to be religious. He has called us to be faithful, even if faithfulness means being controversial!
