On today’s episode of Soul Tonic, I want us to talk about “A heart of gratitude”. Life throws a big blow at us sometimes. Maybe with the loss of a loved one, loss of Job, or any other thing dear to us, and we begin to wonder why life is so unfair to us.
But if we could just stop and think a little deeper, we would often find out that many of the challenges we face in life are either to avert a bigger evil or to pave way for the blessings ahead.
Life is full of ups and downs and we must learn to enjoy the up times and of course, endure the downtimes.
You are bitter and angry at life because you have worked so hard and have never been able to save enough to buy yourself a car. The only treasured possession you have is a motorcycle. But, have you thought about that man in your neighborhood who doesn’t have legs, let alone be strong enough to ride a motorcycle? Or that little girl you see on your way to the market every time, begging for alms?. What about the sick ones in the hospitals?. Or the ones that have died untimely and have now made the cemetery their homes?
Now tell me, would you rather exchange your situation for theirs? I bet your answer is No! Look around you, there is always something to be grateful for in life. Count your blessings, they will always outweigh your troubles.
Now is the time to say thank you, for the life, you have, for your hopes and aspirations because, in due time, everything will fall in place.
I’ll leave you with this thought-provoking quote by Frank A Clark….” If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get”.
