I wish to address the recent declaration of Mr. Hamza Lamisi as wanted by the Nigeria Police Force and to clarify critical developments surrounding this matter.
While the announcement appears decisive on the surface, it raises serious concerns about process, intent, and institutional integrity. Hamza Lamisi is not an unknown or missing individual. His phone number, residence, place of work, and daily public movements are well known. He is frequently seen with his principal, Sen. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, at her residence and within the National Assembly. Declaring such an individual wanted, without executing a straightforward lawful arrest after he boldly neglected the official police investigation letter, invites public skepticism and questions of sincerity.
More troubling is the role of the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, CP Akin Fakorede. The handling of this matter reflects a pattern consistent with delay tactics, selective enforcement, and procedural manipulation previously witnessed under the same unit in the Senate President, Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio’s case. Nigerians deserve to know why lawful options were ignored and why a suspect with known whereabouts is suddenly portrayed as elusive.
Let me state this clearly today being February 3rd, 2026. This case is no longer operating in the shadows.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has now formally approved all my petitions. Every admissible piece of evidence I submitted was accepted, reviewed, and subjected to rigorous forensic examinations. These forensic reviews were successfully concluded, and based on their findings, the Federal Government approved the reopening of the cases for proper investigation, prosecution, and closure.
