Who Is God’s Image, And What Is His Likeness?
Hello again, blessed ones. I hope that you’ve had a great weekend and you’re well prepared and energized to take on the challenges of the new work week ahead.
I’ve been privy to a couple of things on social media through the course of the week that went by, and it became laid heavily on my spirit to speak to us about a question from this scripture below:
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” – Genesis 1:26.
Now, the question is: Who is God’s image, and what is HIS likeness? Is that promised dominion still available to man?
These questions came about in my spirit because I see many people being misled by those who claim to be of God yet are not. And so many others who should even be strong and bold in the Lord but are still being held bound and captive by religion, sin, and other issues of life.
To deal with this shortly, we will look at a few other scriptures because God’s Word should be interpreted by HIS Word and Spirit and not by human intellect, supposed smartness, or will.
In Hebrews 1:1-3, we see the perfect example of a man who represented what the image and likeness of God on earth truly mean. That man was Jesus Christ, and concerning HIM, the Apostle Paul said: “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” – Hebrews 1:3.
If Jesus is the perfect example of HIS image and likeness here on earth, then what other example do we need to ever take or follow as HIS supposed followers? Remember what was said about the disciples who were with HIM while on earth, and even the people that believed and joined the early church:
“And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” – Acts 11:26.
The word “Christian” means “little Christs, one exactly like Christ, the express image of Christ” in the original Greek texts translated into the English ones we have today. Now, we can see a pattern already established here, can’t we? The man Jesus Christ was the express image of God on earth, and HIS disciples were so much like HIM that they were branded “mini Christs” by those who diligently tracked and observed them in the early church in Antioch.
So, who is God’s image, and what is HIS likeness? It is not someone who has amassed literary knowledge or acquired theological titles and names. It is not the religious leader who only seeks to bind people to himself for his selfish reasons and gains and never shows them their true selves and worth in God. It is not those who quote and use the scriptures diabolically, out of context, and as a weapon over others to keep them subjugated and subdued beneath them always.
Anything and anyone that does not match up to the ways, doctrine, lifestyle, and all the man Jesus Christ stood and was known for, and doesn’t align with what the apostles and early believers, too, followed till they were dubbed “mini Christs,” is not and can never be compared to God’s image and likeness!
Jesus, speaking concerning those who are genuinely in HIS image, as HE is the Father’s, said: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” – John 10:27-28.
Anyone who claims to be God’s image and likeness, yet lives, teaches, practices things, and does against HIS Word and doctrine is a liar and “a devil masquerading as an angel of light!” – see 2 Corinthians 11:14.
Finally, is that promised dominion still available to man today? Absolutely! Look at the lives and the exploits of the apostles and the early church, and you will see that indeed, “God is the same yesterday, today, and forever,” and HIS promises to us can never be broken!
HE promised man dominion over everything HE created (Satan and all angels inclusive!), and HIS Word never fails! However, the man who will have this level of authority and dominion must be one totally submitted to HIS will and leadership – such must be genuinely in the Father’s image and likeness, just like Jesus Christ and the early believers were.
Please, don’t just read these words today and walk away. Ask and check yourself – are you truly HIS image and likeness, or are you under needless bondage and the yoke of man’s evil theology, doctrines, and manipulations somewhere in the name of “church”?
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32.
I sincerely hope and pray that you let this truth make you free today. Ana eji uche eme ihe!
Remain blessed always.

I would call this a “revealed truth”. Being the image of God is being Christ like!
