FRIDAY MAY 27TH TGIF TIPS: Spend Time With The Children – When Was The Last Time You Did?
Hello, my lovely Mgbekes. I hope that you have all had a prosperous and wonderful work week?
It’s been another very tedious one for us here, but we’re always grateful to God for life, and this opportunity to recline, recoil, and recover every weekend as we do.
Today is a special day, though, so it is not going to be business as usual for us here, and hopefully, everyone that has followed our Friday safety tips as religiously as we post them, too.
For married or single parents, this weekend is dedicated to you, seeing how special it is, and we have a question for you: When last did you spend some quality time with your children, child, or ward during the week?
That’s almost an impossible thing to do, especially if you live in a city like Lagos, Nigeria, where you must be out of the house very early and only get back pretty late too, right?
We know, and we understand how it is; we’ve been there and done that, too, remember? As Children’s Day takes center stage today, we believe that there is no better day to try to make amends for this than today.
So, instead of your regular TGIF hangouts with the guys and your colleagues after work, here are a few cute suggestions that we think could help make this day a memorable one for you and your children (single people, sorry, o! Today’s not your day…lol):
(1) Video Games Challenge
How about you close from work as early as you can today and surprise the children with a couple of gifts and your presence in the house before they go to bed? Sounds fantastic, right? Yes, we know.
One of the fun things you could do to unwind when you’re with your children tonight is to have a video games challenge. Let your children select their favorite video game and then challenge them to duels and competitions at it.
Of course, you’re going to lose sorely, but that’s the fun it in, isn’t it? Anyway, this idea is more about the bond that such activities would help create than who wins or loses.
Even if you’re a geek or computer whizz, it’s Children’s Day, for God’s sake! You shouldn’t be winning any games or competitions against your children today; come on! Be a good sport and focus more on the benefits of this activity than the activity itself.
(2) Karaoke
Just in case you’re part of the “I must go out every Friday” crew, we have an excellent suggestion for you, too.
Go home, get changed, and take the children out to karaoke for a night of super fun and excitement. Believe me, this memory will forever be etched in their minds, and your bond and relationship with them will be a lot better for it.
Yes, you’re welcome. Oh, and don’t you dare leave your spouses behind in the house o!
(3) Just Be There For Them!
You could also try being there for them to spend a good time and bond with them today.
Instead of going out or any other activity, you could also try talking to your children, getting to know all their personal struggles, catch up on all the things you miss with them regularly during the week, and just be there for them today!
You could grab some food and cool gifts for them and your spouse on your way back home as early as you can, and just do everything you possibly can to make this a Children’s Day to remember for your household.
We don’t believe in coincidences in this life. For this special day to have fallen on a Friday, there must be a couple of people God may be trying to nudge back towards a life they have neglected at home.
We have done our part today by being sensitive to this and bringing you the right information. The rest is now left to you.
Stay blessed always, and do have a fabulous weekend ahead.
