Nollywood Star Tonto Dikeh Calls Out Girl’s Family, As Lagos State Government Issues Warning Over Child Porn
Popular, multiple award-winning Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh has taken to social media to share some valid concerns about the Chrisland School girl who was allegedly raped by her fellow students while on a school trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, recently.
A videotape of the sexual act has since gone viral online, and, reacting to the trending incident, Tonto said that, after watching the recorded sex video, she is very convinced that the girl in question “knows sex very well” and that she was surely not being raped.
“In my own opinion, it is not her first nor her fifth time. She has a much older groomer somewhere. The family needs to ask the right question and protect the girl more, and the school is also guilty of concealing the truth about such a horrible crime,” Tonto stated.
Meanwhile, after issuing a directive to shut down all Chrisland Schools’ branches in Lagos State indefinitely pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into the case, the State government has also issued a warning to all those spreading the video content online.
The statement issued by the State government reads: “The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to the alleged sexual violence case involving students of Chrisland Schools which occurred in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
It is pertinent to note that the relevant Ministries, Departments are investigating all allegations, and Agencies, including the Ministry of Education, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, and the Lagos State Domestic & Sexual Violence Agency, whilst the criminal allegations have been escalated to the Commissioner of Police.
In view of the allegations, we are committed to ensuring that adequate medical and psycho-social support is provided. This is to reassure members of the public of the State Government’s commitment to safety and child protection, especially in ensuring that all child-centered institutions within the State formulate and implement policies and systems that are compliant with the Executive Order (NO.EO/AA08 of 2016), Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Program.
We also use this medium to remind the general public that any person who engages in any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a child commits an offense and is liable to a custodial sentence of fourteen (14) years. This includes producing, distributing, receiving, or possessing an image of child pornography.”
In related developments, the Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed earlier today that the State Command has already launched an official investigation to obtain more helpful information about the case and unravel the identities of everyone involved in it.
SP Benjamin said: “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to an alleged rape video purportedly depicting students of Chrisland School Lagos, going viral on social media.
The command has commenced investigations into the matter wto establish the identities of the players in the video, the true incident in the video, the geographical location of the incident, the alleged threat to life against a student of the school, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.
The command is equally taking cognizance of the cybercrime angle to the whole episode and would not hesitate to enlist the support of Interpol should the need arise. For a holistic and unbiased investigation, the command shall be working with relevant ministries, departments, agencies, and non-governmental organizations.”
Tonto’s points are not only very valid but also quite disturbing. The scenes in the short video raise some questions for this girl’s family that begs for answers, and they are:
(1) Who spends time with that young girl whenever she is back home from school? From all indications, she indeed looked like the very experienced one at sex compared to her partner in the video, and it makes one wonder who and where she learned such skills from at her age.
(2) Why are they claiming that the girl was raped when the video clearly shows that the sexual act was fully consensual? If the mother truly seeks help for this girl and the family, they must at least be willing to shoulder their part in this mess.
This episode also serves as a stern warning to every other parent out there, especially those who are comfortable enough to afford certain luxuries for themselves and their children. There is almost nothing safe about virtually every media content being put out daily again these days, and it is your responsibility as a parent to regulate the kind of songs, video skits, music videos, movies, and every other content your children get exposed to daily!
Parenting is not a walk in the park, and if you cannot act responsibly, then at least don’t endanger the poor children by giving them access to devices and gadgets that they can easily get corrupted by.
