Beware The Modern Day Achan & Gehazi – Who Is Your Father?
Dearly beloved, how are you all doing today? I hope you are all doing great and having a restful weekend, too.
I’ve been away for a bit due to some business matters that looked spiraling out of control; I had to step in prayerfully, and God has helped our team to calm the raging storms – although it did take a physical toll on me.
God’s Word is forever true – HE will never tempt us beyond what we can bear in life, and HE more than proved it to me again during this phase. I also observed a deplorable trait fast becoming a trend, especially among many young men and women at this age.
Remember what the Apostle Paul says? “Be not deceived; for God cannot be mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7. Sadly, though, many people in this age seem to have either forgotten or choose to disregard this clear warning.
Hence, I feel led to sound this warning again today, with a revelation that may be the answer that someone out there has struggled, battled, suffered, and prayed many years for so that their captivity may be broken.
Firstly, I need to ask: Who is your father? Do you know the story of your biological father and his before him? Do you know if there has been a modern-day Achan or Gehazi in your lineage whose dastardly crimes are now haunting you, their children, and generations?
“And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” – Exodus 34:6-7.
It’s so unfortunate that when we seek HIS goodness, we are always quick to remember and believe that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” However, when it comes to our iniquities and deliberate acts of wickedness, we quickly and erroneously believe that “the blood and grace” will cover us.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, dead to sin, live any longer therein?” – Romans 6:1-2. See? Even that same scripture you want to hide under forbids such wickedness!
A young man was recently contracted to handle a very sensitive assignment for an internationally established and reputable company. Despite his previous terrible record with them, they decided to show undeserved mercy and give him another chance after his many pleas and cries using his newborn child and wife as an emotional bargaining chip.
The contract was awarded to him, and he was paid in total upfront and given an extra cash gift for his child even though the company secretly knew that he had mischievously charged more than double the fee for the job.
Can you guess what he did again? He not only failed to deliver before the agreed deadline, but he also stole over 70% of what he was contracted to handle. To make matters worse, he was insulting and even started bragging and defiant when confronted with the issue. His deviously wicked and deliberate acts of sabotage cost the company a lot of money, yet all they had ever done to and shown him was good.
Why am I asking about your father and his fathers before him today and seeking to see how much you know of them? This is the same way those evil men of old like Gehazi and Achan brought generational destruction, curses, plagues, and death upon themselves and their innocent children and household with their acts of wickedness and evil greed!
Achan’s entire household and lineage were stoned and burnt to death for his evil thievery and covetousness (read Joshua 7:19-26). For his avarice and bad greed, Gehazi brought the curse of leprosy upon himself and his lineage forever (2Kings 5:20-27).
Yes, the almighty, merciful God punished these men and their generations for the sins of their fathers. So, how much more severely do you think HE will descend upon a man who deliberately keeps repaying good with unspeakable evil? Solomon answers this for us: “Whoso rewardeth evil for good, Evil shall not depart from his house.” – Proverbs 17:13.
I greatly fear this young man’s child and others like him, too, because sadly for them, this is the Word and decree of the Lord, and it can never be invalidated! However, we must also be quick to deliver God’s mind with a perfect balance to all men, and I always try to do precisely that.
If you find out that your father or those before him have been modern Achans and Gehazis, you have a sure word of covering and deliverance from their plague and curse if only you repent of their evil and lead a better and Godly life, though.
Concerning you, God told the prophet: “Now, lo, if he begets a son, that seeth all his father’s sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
that hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.” – Ezekiel 18:14, 17.
He also says: “Behold, all souls are mine; as the father’s soul, so also the son’s soul is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” – Ezekiel 18:4.
Therefore, I ask again: Who is your father? Look at your life and all the battles you’ve been plagued with. Is there a generational challenge that has defied all help you and yours have sought? You cannot cure an ailment unless you know its name and cause first. Now that you have this revelation run to God today with HIS promises here, and I assure you that your testimony will be changed!
Finally, if you are a man or woman who, like Achan and Gehazi, is evil and rotten to your core, and derive pleasure in destroying others and repaying their good with evil, remember that there is a God in heaven, and HE can never be mocked.
You will SURELY reap what you sow, and unfortunately, you will make those innocent children you bring into the world suffer with you, too. Please, I beg you today, repent of your treacherous ways, and give glory to the God of all flesh!
May God touch every stony heart today and cause their rebellion to be melted before HIS matchless light. And may HE be merciful to all those suffering for sins they know nothing about and show them this deliverance already prepared for us all, in the name of Jesus Christ; Amen!
