Countless Opportunities For Growth Are Hidden All Around You. Be Humble And Teachable Always!

The meek shall inherit the earth, according to the good book, and as long as you remain humble, there are no limits to what you can achieve in life.

Countless opportunities and things are always around us that we can tap and benefit from. Still, the question is, are we humble, willing, accessible, and open-minded enough to recognize such opportunities when they come?

The short story of Ihechinyere Ndubuisi and Dr. Sandra Duru is a prime example of what one could seamlessly benefit by just being humble and accessible in life.

Well renowned for her passionate love for her culture, language, and roots, Dr. Sandra didn’t grow up in an Igbo community and spent most of her growing years with none Igbo-speaking people. Yet she has retained an ever-growing burning desire to promote her very beautiful culture, heritage, and root constantly, and this is clearly evidenced in the way she never hesitates or refrains from writing in the Igbo language always, no matter the platform she’s sharing her thoughts on.

Dr. Sandra firmly believes that her culture is her identity and pride and boldly urges others also to imbibe the same values always.

Ihechinyere Ndubuisi was kind enough to teach Dr. Sandra Duru the proper way to write her favorite Igbo words. Here are the words:

“A na-eji uche eme ihe
Asa mma
Nna anyi di mma
Nne m.”

Ihechinyere is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. She studied Linguistics and Igbo Language, and she’s currently running a Master’s program in Translation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.

After following and studying Dr. Sandra for a while on social media, Ihechinyere reached out to her, and the following conversation ensued:

Ihechinyere: “Hello, Dr. Sandra. I noticed you like writing in Igbo. I’d want to make some corrections to your Igbo in use if you won’t feel bad about it.”

Dr. Sandra humbly responded: “Ndewo nnem, I am very teachable o! Please teach me the Igbo language.”

This encounter and brief conversation between both women presents a valuable lesson that we can all glean from today:

Opportunities to grow and make meaningful progress abound and are hidden in places we don’t always pay attention to most times. Hence we must always ensure that we remain humble, accessible, and teachable so that we don’t miss these chances as they come by in life!

Also, you must be willing to teach others to be more and do more in their chosen passions and pursuits, especially when you have a lot more experience and skill at what they’re trying to accomplish.

No man is an island, and nobody knows it all in life. Never fall into the trap of believing that you are supreme in anything, and your growth and progress will never be stunted! This very simple gesture has earned Ihechinyere a little contract to translate a book.
